Alice Pan, a shining star of Vazyme and also Vazyme's Sales Director in the United States, will share her insights in her successful career. Pan joined Vazyme in 2015 as a technical support specialist and had then grown into a product manager. With the development of Vazyme's global operation, she joined the International Business Division and now is responsible for the US market.

Q: Please tell us more about your global working experience.

A: My first international business venture took place in Istanbul, where I gained a profound understanding of the significant differences between different markets from different countries and regions. Factors such as human resources, culture, brand influence, market stage, familiarity with the local market, language, logistics, distribution, and services all play roles in influencing the development of international business. The entire process is not easy and requires exploration and understanding of many things. Currently, we have successfully made substantial strides in our initial business breakthroughs for the US market. In this early stage, our reagents and instruments benefit in life science areas and also focused in NGS areas and Academic business in US. We serve dozens of university laboratories, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, and medical organizations. To better cater to our US clientele, we have established warehouses and created localized customer service teams that promptly address customer needs and offer one-stop services.

As a successful businesswoman, Pan believes that women in the workplace often showcase unique advantages in communication, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and collaboration. With higher emotional intelligence, they excel in managing team relationships and fostering cooperation, offering diverse perspectives for decision-making. These strengths contribute to a richer and more balanced influence in professional settings. Pan's team is 70% women, reflecting her commitment to creating an equal and inclusive work environment.

Q: Can you talk about the gender issues that still exist for women in the workplace?

A: The theme is crucial for business as women, a significant workforce demographic, encounter obstacles like gender discrimination and unequal job opportunities, limiting their advancement to leadership roles and higher-paying positions. Challenges for career women come from gender bias, family responsibilities, and cultural beliefs.

Pan emphasized the need for gender equality measures to break the glass ceiling, stressing that collaborative efforts are crucial to create a fair and enabling workplace for women to unleash their full potential.

Pan is convinced that the potential of women is unlimited which is also a valuable asset to all human beings. “Life is a journey of encounters.
